Why would Rudolph, a Jewish millionaire in 1947, purchase a rickety former Chesapeake Bay ferryboat that might not even make the Journey across the Atlantic let alone from France to Haifa?

At the end of World War II freighters were a dime a dozen, and Rudolph wasn’t just a millionaire, Rudolf G. Sonnnborn, one of the most important, yet most private of men, in Jewish history is considered the man “who launched a nation” when he put up the money to buy “a rickety former Chesapeake Bay ferryboat.

”The Pledge by Leonard Slater is the only place you will ever read about the meticulous plan implemented by Rudolf G. Sonnnborn, one of the most important, yet most private of men, in Jewish history.

The Pledge, is also the only documentation of the Meticulously Planned Exodus Saga. The saga has everything,  mystery, intrigue, defiance of the U.S. ban on shipments of war materials and violation of The US Enemy Neutrality Act (which had never been invoked since it became law in 1776), ingenious maneuvering, secretive meetings and purchases, hidden shipments and even the sexual encounter of a Central American dictator.to 1.

The balance would shift even more dramatically if displaced European Jews were allowed entry to Palestine.5But the arabs would abandon their pledge and dump it in the hands of the UN.18 February – British Foreign Minister Ernest Bevin announces that the United Kingdom has decided to give up its mandate over Palestine and allow the United Nations to determine the country’s future.

Writing his obituary in the New York Times on June 4th 1986, Wolfgang Saxon described Rudolf as a ““New York Industrialist, a longtime leader of the American Zionist movement and one of the most prominent fund-raisers for the young state of Israel in the 1940’s and 1950’s…“Mr. Sonneborn had a successful business career dealing with petrochemicals and specialty petroleum products. But he was better known for his friendships, going back to 1919, with such future Israeli leaders as David Ben-Gurion and Dr Chaim Weizman. Through them his name became prominently linked with the famous ship Exodus and other American efforts to send supplies and materiel to Palestine as the Jewish community there girded for a war of independence.Once Israel was established, Mr. Sonneborn was in the forefront of campaigns that raised hundreds of millions of dollars for Israel. He became a familiar figure at dinners and other events, exhorting American Jews to dig deeper into their pockets to help a flood of hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees settle in Israel.”

There was one exception: the British-trained and British-officered Arab Legion, under the command of King Abdullah of Jordan. But it was constrained financially and politically by the British-dominated King, who had already colluded with the Jewish leaders on territorial matters and who had ambitions in Palestine.
The Arab Legion, therefore, was restricted to defending territory in and around East Jerusalem and the Old City and on the West Bank of the Jordan, which it did successfully.

Applying the date of 688 A.D. to Daniel

And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be 1290 days. Daniel 12:11

Blessed is he that waiteth and cometh to the 1335 days. 12:12

Biblical scholars acknowledge the words of Ezekiel who wrote 30 years before Daniel. “I have appointed thee each day for a year”. Using each day for a year,

And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up in 688 A.D., there shall be 1290 years. Daniel 12:11

Blessed is he that waiteth for the Messiah and cometh to the 1335 years or 2023. 12:12

Revelation Chapter 11, verse 2&3 confirms this date.

But the court which is without the Temple leave out and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months (1279 days).  And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a 1260 days, clothed in sackcloth. Revelation 11:2&3

These two verses appear to be talking about the same time scale and the same event. But only if we assume an average month is thirty days – then forty-two months = 1260 days. An “average month” does not account for the extra day for a leap year.  Using the reckonings from the Julian calendar and the extra day, the period of forty-two months is 1279 not 1260 days.

We also know verse 1 refers to the area outside the temple as being in the hands of the Gentiles (non Jews) as well as the holy city of Jerusalem for 1279 years (“each day for a year”.); and in verse 2 the two witnesses of God the Jewish people, the Houses of Judah and Israel, will prophesy or preach for a similar 1260 years  “clothed in sackcloth”. Sackcloth is symbolic of regret, repentance and mourning.

What these two verses are saying is that the Jewish people will lose their place of worship including the city of Jerusalem; it will be given over to non Jewish people until 1967 and the Jewish people will be in mourning for the loss of their homeland until 1948.

On May 14th 1948  (688 A.D. + 1260) the British Mandate for Palestine ended and the State of Israel was created.  For the first time since 688 A.D. the Jewish faith once again had a Homeland but did not control East Jerusalem or the Temple Mount until June 5th 1967 (688 A.D. + 1279).

In the first few hours of the 1967 six-day war for the first time since the capture of Jerusalem and destruction of the temple by Titus in 70 A.D. the people of Israel not only had their own state they once again controlled “the most holy place” in Jerusalem.

It was 48 years ago, on July 18, 1947, that a rickety former Chesapeake Bay ferryboat sailed into Haifa harbor in northern Palestine packed with 4,554 Jewish survivors of the Nazi Holocaust.1 British troops were waiting for the bedraggled Jews because they were trying to enter Palestine illegally. The world press also was there to watch the confrontation. In the melee that followed, three Jews were killed and scores injured as British troops forcefully removed them from the ship. Not unexpectedly, the incident received heavy media coverage, picturing brutish British soldiers manhandling weak and helpless Jews. 2 Thus began the saga of the Exodus, a piteous incident that helped win unprecedented sympathy for the Zionist cause.

The agony of the Exodus was not an accident. The old ferry boat, originally called President Wakefield, had been bought by a group of Jewish Americans called the Sonneborn Institute after New York Jewish millionaire Rudolf G. Sonneborn. Its main purpose was to circumvent U.S. laws against transferring weapons to the Jews in Palestine.3

The voyage of the Exodus had been meticulously planned by Zionist leaders with an eye to gaining sympathy in the world press for the plight of hundreds of thousands of European Jews left homeless by World War II. Many of them wanted to migrate to Palestine. They were prevented, however, by the British, who in 1947 were concluding their 30th and final year as Palestine’s master. During their occupation and rule, the British had made a number of promises to Palestine’s majority community of Arabs to protect them from waves of Jewish immigrants. Among these promises was a pledge in the White Paper of 1939 that the Arabs would have a de facto veto over Jewish immigration into Palestine after 1944. 4

The Arabs were adamant after World War II that Britain keep its pledge against new immigrants. They pointed out that since the beginning of the century the demographic balance had changed from an Arab majority of more than 10 to 1 to the current level of 2 to 1. The balance would shift even more dramatically if displaced European Jews were allowed entry to Palestine.5

But now, with all the unspeakable details of the Holocaust in full public view—the stark photographs of the concentration camps and crematoria, the shocking stacks of starved bodies, the astounding figure of 6 million dead—the Jews were demanding an open gate to Palestine.

It was a cruel dilemma for Britain. On one level, the two issues had nothing in common. The displaced Jews were a European problem, while immigration into Palestine was a local Middle Eastern problem. But Britain had responsibilities in both regions. Moreover, while it had a commitment to the Palestinians it also was caught up in the humanitarian outpouring of sympathy in the West for the Jews. It was because of such dilemmas that London only five months earlier had announced it was surrendering its Mandate over Palestine and turning the whole difficult matter over to the United Nations.6 However, until the world body found a solution, British troops would be responsible for maintaining order in Palestine.

On their side, the Zionists launched an organized campaign to transport illegal immigrants to Palestine to challenge the British limits against immigration. As an indication of the magnitude of the operation, 69,878 Jews were sent to Palestine as illegal immigrants between 1945 and May 1948, and 51,500 of them were intercepted by the British navy and interned on Cyprus.7

Predictably, the dramatic story of homeless Jews fresh from Europe’s death camps and bound for Palestine in barely seaworthy vessels to face British troops was a running human interest story in the media throughout the immediate postwar years.8 Little noted by the press was the fact that every able-bodied immigrant added to the military power of the Jews in Palestine, a consideration not overlooked by British Foreign Minister Ernest Bevin. He early warned that new immigrants would be “the beginning of an army which would take Palestine away from the Arabs….” 9

The saga of the Exodus stands out because it was so successful in gaining sympathy for the Zionists. As Ike Aranne, captain of the Exodus recalled, Zionist intelligence officers “gave us orders that this ship was to be used as a big demonstration with banners to show how poor and weak and helpless we were, and how cruel the British were.”10

Britain’s frustrated foreign secretary inadvertently aided the secret Zionist scheme by making one of the most insensitive decisions of his distinguished career. Instead of ordering the Exodus’s passengers interned with other illegal immigrants being held on Cyprus, he ordered that they be returned to France where the voyage had begun. Few decisions could have been more certain of retaining the attention of the world press. Worse, from Britain’s view, the story commanded even larger coverage when many of the Jews refused to disembark when they arrived back in France and the French government declared it would refuse to force them off.

It was not until Sept. 8 that the Jews remaining on board finally were taken to the British zone of Germany and forced off the ships to which they had been transferred under the full glare of the press.11

A Storm of Criticism

Britain suffered a storm of criticism in the world press for all six weeks of the saga. Britain’s government was accused of antiSemitism, and its officials were called heartless. The French were particularly bitter that the British had tried to throw the problem in their laps. The Communist newspaper Humanité charged that the ships returning the Jews were a “floating Auschwitz.” Combat described them as “cages for wild animals.” Figaro reported that tensions between London and Paris were higher than at any time since World War II.12

British historian Nicholas Bethell later wrote: “Far from ‘making an example’ of the Exodus and rallying the world against the organizers of illegal immigration, Bevin succeeded only in shocking the world community into deeper sympathy for the Zionist enterprise.”13

The saga of the Exodus played out at a time when the United Nations was deciding whether to partition Palestine between Arabs and Jews, and there can be little doubt that the world body’s sympathy for the Jews was encouraged by the Exodus drama when it voted to create a Jewish state on Nov. 29, 1947. Reverberations of the Exodus did not stop there. In the early 1950s, an American public relations man, Edward Gottlieb, seeking to improve Israel’s image in the United States, hit upon the idea of hiring a writer to go to Israel and write an heroic novel about the new country. The writer was Leon Uris, and his novel, Exodus, became a huge best-seller.14 Moreover, the highly romanticized novel later became a movie starring Paul Newman. It was a box office smash hit.

The fact that Uris’s book totally distorted reality and ignored the basic injustice involved in the West imposing on the Middle East a solution to its own problems was completely overlooked. Instead, the movie inculcated in millions of Americans the image of Zionists as pioneers in search of freedom among fanatical Arabs and perfidious British officials, an image that lingered for many years, in part because of the saga of the Exodus.15

The former BBC Middle East correspondent, Tim Llewellyn, looks back at the history of Israel.The state of Israel was proclaimed by the Jewish leader, David Ben Gurion, on May 14, 1948, and officially came into being on the 15th, after British Mandatory rule ended at midnight. In many minds, the birth of Israel is closely identified with the Nazi terror in Europe and the Holocaust, but in fact the conception of and planning for a Jewish state had begun some 60 years earlier.

In the mid-19th Century, British politicians saw another value: that of having in place in the Middle East a Jewish entity sympathetic to the British Empire.
Two phenomena made real these and the Jews’ own previously vague aspirations of “return”: the burgeoning European nationalism of the time, from which the Jews felt excluded; and the massacres, or pogroms, carried out by Tsarist Russia against its six million Jews, the largest single Jewish population in Europe, which spread into the Ukraine and Poland.
By the 1880s, groups of desperate Russian and other Eastern European Jews were settling in Palestine, which was under the somewhat tenuous authority of the Turkish Ottoman Empire.
‘A national home for the Jews’

He won wide Jewish backing for it, and tried, at first unsuccessfully, to encourage the British Government to support it.
It was not until World War I, when British forces were at the gates of Jerusalem, in November, 1917, that the British Foreign Secretary, Arthur Balfour, anxious for Jewish support in the war, issued his epic yet ambiguous Declaration.
This said the Government viewed “with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine…”
The Turks defeated, the British ruled Palestine as a military authority from 1917 until 1922. Then the League of Nations awarded Britain the Mandate to govern Palestine and prepare its citizens for self-government. From that moment, Jewish immigration from Europe increased phenomenally, with the British Cabinet pledged rigorously to honour Balfour’s promise of a Jewish homeland, as it was interpreted by the Zionists.

The Arabs were incensed. In 1936, they rose in armed revolt, mainly against the British rulers they saw as authors of their plight.
But they were disorganised, factional and poorly equipped.

The contrast between the growing Jewish society in Palestine – the Yishuv – and the indigenous, mainly Muslim Arab population could not have been greater.

In 1917, two-thirds of the roughly 600,000 Arab population, were rural and village-based, with local, clannish loyalties and little connection with the towns. What passed for “national” Arab leadership was based in the towns, though there was little national identity. Two or three established, rival families dominated Palestinian politics.

The majority of the Jews arriving in Palestine were well organised, motivated and skilled. In the early 1920s, they set up an underground army, the Haganah, or Defence. A Jewish shadow government was set up, with departments which looked after every aspect of society: education, trades unions, farmers, the “kibbutzim” settlements that spread across Palestine, the law, and political parties.

During World War II, Haganah fighters joined the British Army, acquiring military skills and experience. Not so the Arabs.

At the same time, extremist groups such as the Irgun Zwei Leumi and the Lehi, or Stern Group, began a brutal campaign of assassinations, bombings, kidnappings, intimidations, disruptions and sabotage. Their actions were directed against Briton, Arab and even Jews.

During the World War, the Zionist movement clearly defined its objective as a dominant Jewish state in Palestine. Deep plans were laid.

After 1945, as the facts and consequences of Hitler’s death camps became evident, the Jewish underground intensified the terror campaign to oust the British, whom they accused of Arab sympathies. Jewish organisations tried to restart unlimited immigration.

Enormous emotional and political support for the Zionists came from the United States. The enfeebled postwar British Government no longer had the strength or the stomach to control Palestine or try to find a middle way that would suit both Jews and Arabs.

Arabs rioted followed the UN vote

Britain handed the problem to the United Nations. On November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly voted to partition Palestine into Jewish and Arab sectors.

There was violent and total Arab opposition, but wild Jewish acclaim. Fighting started almost immediately.

Even before the mandate ended, in April and May, Jewish fighters moved to protect, consolidate and widen the territory for the new Jewish state. Often they attacked areas designated for Arabs, and tried to depopulate Arab areas in the planned Jewish sector.

On April 9, Jewish fighters massacred more than 200 Palestinian villagers, including old people, women and children, in the West Jerusalem village of Deir Yassin, causing widespread panic and greatly augmenting the flight of Palestinians from their homes across the country.

As the Jewish authorities had predicted, Arab armies from Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon tried to invade Palestine as soon as the British forces actually left. But the Arab campaign was a generally badly organised, uncoordinated affair with untrained units who were no match for the Haganah and, later, the Israeli Defence Force.

The Palestinian militias and other Arab irregulars were also easily crushed.

There was one exception: the British-trained and British-officered Arab Legion, under the command of King Abdullah of Jordan. But it was constrained financially and politically by the British-dominated King, who had already colluded with the Jewish leaders on territorial matters and who had ambitions in Palestine.

The Arab Legion, therefore, was restricted to defending territory in and around East Jerusalem and the Old City and on the West Bank of the Jordan, which it did successfully.

By the middle of 1949 up to 700,000 of about 900,000 Palestinian Arabs had left the affected region, forced out by a combination of Jewish/Israeli terror tactics, the frightening thrust of war, the contagious panic of local residents, fractious and incompetent Arab leadership, the flight of some richer and therefore influential families and the actual sale of Arab land to the Jews without coercion, often by absentee Arab landlords.

These Palestinians had fled from their homes for ever, though they did not know it at the time. They ended up in the refugee camps of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egyptian-run Gaza and in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, which was ruled by the Jordanian King Abdullah, as was Arab East Jerusalem.

Those Palestinian refugees and their descendants in the region now number more than three million. Israel has since refused to allow the refugees to return as long as Arab states remain pledged to its destruction, often claiming that there was no room for them anyway.

Peace treaties and agreements with Egypt, Jordan and the Palestinian movement have not altered this.

In 1917, there had been 50,000 or so Jews in Palestine. By 1948, they had become 650,000 Israelis. At the same time, the majority of Palestinian Arabs had left Israel; only 200,000 or so withstood the war and other depradations and remained in Israel.

Israel became a state on May 15, 1948, and was recognised by the United States and the Soviet Union that same day.

Israel’s Arab neighbours , however, united their forces to drive the Jews out of Palestine.

Yesterday (1/3/2011, at 11 a.m.) TPV publishes OpEdNews Ranked Among Top 100 Blogs, Why?. The article had no XML feed description and was not picked up by Google News.

As of 11:01 a.m. there were still two articles by Katherine Smith that had not been removed (censored) from the OpEdNews website:

  1. Baron Otto Von Bolschwing, SS Veteran of Eichmann’s “Jewish Affairs”
  2. Why was I born? Why are we here?

By 2 p.m. the links were dead, i.e., “This article is not currently available.” [1]

“Bold and Daring,” not really. “Thought Provoking,” not a chance. The same old rant that everyone else publishes, for sure.

Of the top 15 Rob had the “courage” to publish, almost every one is replete with negativity and a Corporatocracy rant. The identical rant that we are bombarded with at every other alternative news and opinion website, 24×7 (except, of course The Peoples Voice, currently featuring Thought Provoking Articles):

What we aren’t getting that they have, that we deserve but they won’t give us because life isn’t fair. And don’t forget the world is full of a bunch of greedy bastards who run the corporations that don’t care about anything but profits.

I recently submitted Baron Otto Von Bolschwing, SS Veteran of Eichmann’s “Jewish Affairs”, an article written by Katherine Smith.

The reason Dr. Smith is not submitting is because she was banned for being too bold and daring.

I found this out quite by accident. I, like a lot of others who read her articles at OpEdNews, noticed when you search her titles, the Google results tell you her articles have been scrubbed from the site:

Katherine writes Thought Provoking articles, and every one that was published at OpEdNews was in the top ten.

I recently submitted Baron Otto Von Bolschwing, SS Veteran of Eichmann’s “Jewish Affairs,” an article written by Katherine Smith for her because she is banned.

The one article that, as of today is still on the site, was submitted by another reader at the site, Elizabeth Mandrell:

Therefore on 12/23/2010, I submitted Baron Otto Von Bolschwing, SS Veteran of Eichmann’s “Jewish Affairs”, by Doctor Katherine Smith. [3]

My subterfuge of changing the authorship from a PhD to a physician apparently worked.

Within hours, without any promotion by the site, Baron Otto Von Bolschwing went to the Number 1 most viewed on the site, and stayed there for 48 hours. Considering the competition and that the title wasn’t very interesting, staying on top for 48 hours was very unusual.

A few days later I submitted the sequel, The Nazi & Jewish Affair to Remember (November 2010), and I was banned.

What this proves, without a doubt, is that the readership at OpEdNews is hungry for thought provoking content.

Why won’t Rob Kall give it to them?

Therefore on 12/23/2010, I submitted Baron Otto Von Bolschwing, SS Veteran of Eichmann’s “Jewish Affairs”, by Doctor Katherine Smith. [1]

My subterfuge of changing the authorship from a PhD to a physician apparently worked.

Within hours, without any promotion by the site, Baron Otto Von Bolschwing went to the Number 1 most viewed on the site, and stayed there for 48 hours. Considering the competition and that the title wasn’t very interesting, staying on top for 48 hours was very unusual.

A few days later I submitted the sequel, The Nazi & Jewish Affair to Remember (November 2010) and I was banned.

What this proves, without a doubt, is that the readership at OpEdNews is hungry for thought provoking content.

Why won’t Rob Kall give it to them?
